VISION/ASSESSMENT
The Synod of the Sun has a commitment to regular assessment of its ministry and life together. The last Assessment was done in 2020. There is now a need for an assessment as the synod transitions to a post-Covid Mid-Council and an evolving ministry for the eleven Presbyteries it serves. It is, also, time for some focused visioning work as the Synod will be calling a new Synod Leader in early 2024. What are the needs of our Presbyteries so they can serve their churches most effectively as the church lives in this liminal space, between what was and what will be.

The Coordinating Team created a Visioning/Assessment (V/A) Team of five (5) people from around the Synod, one of which will be the Bridge Interim. Five (5) questions have been developed to review the past and engage the future. 30-45 minutes from each Presbytery General Council is being requested. At least two team members of the Visioning/Assessment Team will be on each call. The purpose of the V/A team members is to ask questions, listen systemically and seek clarity.
The team is composed of the following people:
Natarsha Sanders – Mission Presbytery
Tim Grey – Tres Rios Presbytery
Maggie Alsup – Arkansas Presbytery
Richard Williams – South Louisiana Presbytery
Leigh Miller – Indian Nations Presbytery
Steve Shive – Bridge Interim Synod Leader Stated Clerk.
