ASSESSMENT
The synod is dedicated to continual assessment of programs, processes, systems, and structures as a priority. In our assessment, we ask ourselves: Is what we are doing within our call to resource and support presbyteries and their congregations?
The 2019/2020 assessment process dealt directly with the questions of supportiveness and responsiveness. The results of our conversations are below. The Rev. Mitch Miller, 2020 Synod Moderator, speaks to these in the video above.
Beginning in 2020, the synod will embark upon regular assessment of financial practices and decision-making processes asking questions such as:
-
Are we living out our mission statement to “Connect, Equip, and Empower for Christ’s mission” in ways that are equitable, just, and supportive?
-
Who and what kind of programs, networks, and institutions does the synod support financially or otherwise?
-
Who and what kind of programs, networks, and institutions does the synod NOT support financially or otherwise?
-
Where have we (the synod) been complicit in perpetuating systemic racism and failed our siblings in Christ?
The synod is committed to continual assessment with the realization that we have failed individuals in the past, and strive to do better for the people of God, for the sake of our siblings in Christ and the future of the Church.
